A scorched earth policy is a military strategy that targets anything that might be useful to the enemy while advancing through or withdrawing from an area. Specifically, all of the assets that are used or can be used by the enemy are targeted, such as food sources, transportation, communications, industrial resources, and even the people in the area.1

This is the title of Mr. Michael Savage’s book “Scorched Earth, Restoring The Country After Obama”. The author in detail, with facts, describes both 2016 presidential candidates’ views. He believes America is failing because of internal forces. His down to earth logic makes sense. “Scorched Earth”’s theme is the importance of maintaining “Borders, Language and Culture”. I lived in Greece for three weeks in May-June 2016. Open borders are continuously destroying the Greek nation, language and culture. Foreign investors have purchased the best real estate in Athens. The Greek language is rarely heard.

He is an advocate for nationalism and not globalism. Read the book to see the failed policy of the current presidential administration and his 2016 standard bearer. Mr. Savage believes “there is a glimmer of hope. We – the people the patriots- are beginning to fight back…Whatever the outcome of this election, we have told the entrenched liberal establishment that we don’t like the direction the country is headed in. We can and will, fight as hard as the enemy to preserve our union…the fight on the barricades did not begin with Donald Trump. It began with Michael Savage.”2

Chapter 1, describes the unjust imprisonment of an Iranian of the Jewish faith for his free speech. The shopkeeper and his family lived in Iran for 2,500 years.3 This is not new. Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians, who lived in Western Anatolia for the same amount of time, were relocated or eliminated in 1914, 1922-23. History repeats itself in 2016.

He mentions China’s growth by saying “it grew on our back. Remember when Clinton was exporting factories? The Chinese were buying whole factories out of the Midwest. They took every machine tool to China.”4 His facts on political subjects are rarely mentioned in mainstream media.

I have not converted to solar or wind energy for our home, because it is more expensive. The author believes “solar and wind companies which contribute heavily to the Democrats are going to get their payback. And look what happens if you don’t invest in solar and wind energy?”5

Mr. Savage is from Queens, New York. He described an education system similar to my experience. “Many of you have come out of college where you were subjected to brainwashing,” he said. “This goes back to your elementary school days….brainwashing.”4 “When your children go to a university and they are forced to accept things that they know are false and to sit there for fear of losing a grade or being thrown out of the classroom, you’re watching Maoism in action.”6 I had to write atheistic papers for courses to get a degree. I even had my mother, the religious Greek Orthodox Christian, type the papers. One must do what is necessary to achieve his/her goal in a liberal college environment.

The chapter on “Why Christians and Jews Must Retain Their Traditions” describes that throughout history, societies have come and gone. “Greece, Rome, the Mongols, and the Third Reich – their names are legion. We’re no different. The American century is done with, over…Ancient traditions give meaning to lives and to the lives of familes.”7

He believes that a person never gives up his gun. It’s the only reason Isis will never take over this country. Revolution comes to America is one of the themes of the book. The author believes the sleeping giant that made America great will awaken. These are the “Eddies” who fought in WWII and made America great. “They’ll vote because if they do not, Christian beliefs will be stamped out and the west will be stamped out along with them.

In 2016, Michael Savage will be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. The “Savage nation” is the country’s #1 streaming radio show. Michael Savage’s new book, “Scorched Earth: Restoring the Country After Obama,” debuted at No. 4 on the New York Times bestseller list, but the talk host notes that his title actually has outsold the No. 2 and the No. 3 books. Regardless of a person’s political philosophy, “Scorched Earth” is worth reading. Special thanks to Mattituck Library Director Jeff Walden for purchasing the New York Times Bestselling book for his readers.
